Charlotte or “Shar-Lot” (pronounced the Yankee way) with the emphasis on the last syllable, has a population of 3500 and lies on the southern border of Chittenden County as you travel down the Route 7 corridor on the western side of the state. The entire western border of the town is comprised of Lake Champlain shoreline.
Charlotte is proud to boast that it has more than 400 acres of conserved lands with conservation easements as part of the Charlotte Land Trust. Some of this open, conserved land offers panoramic views of the Champlain Valley that extend beyond its preserved open meadows drinking in the great depths of Lake Champlain and across to the high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York.
The town is centrally located between the cities of Middlebury and Burlington, making it an ideal place to settle for those families wanting excellent educational opportunities for their children while living in a rural Vermont setting, yet being only minutes from these two ‘mini metropolises’ that offer a college and urban type of lifestyle and night life.
